Lunch box menu: soya chunks pulav & shredded carrot


Soya chunks Textured or texturized vegetable protein (TVP), also known as textured soy protein (TSP), soy meat, or soya meat is a defatted soy flour product; a by-product of extracting soybean oil.[1] It is often used as a meat analogue or meat extender. It is quick to cook, with a protein content equal to that of meat. by Wikipedia.com.

So for a change, planned to make Soya Chunks Pulav than Masala. Its the same procedure as the Masala which included the adding of rice.It goes well with Salad or Raita. I made shredded carrot which is the best combo ever.

From now, there will be so much Lunch Box menus from dhomefood :).
Here is the recipe:

Ingredients:

Rice : 1/2 cup
Soya Chunks- 10-15 (Boiled in water for 10 minutes with salt and squeeze it and cut in to half)
Onion- 1 chopped long
Tomatoes- 1 Chopped fine
Bay Leaf- 1
Cinnamon - small stick
Turmeric - 1 tsp
Coriander Powder - 1 tsp
Cumin Powder - 1 tsp
Garam Masala- a pinch
Oil ,Salt and Coriander leaves

Method:
1) Wash the rice and let it soak in water for 10 minutes
2) While doing so, IN a kadai with oil, Put the Cinnamon,Bay Leaf and add Onions.
3) After few minutes, Add tomatoes ,and all the spices (turmeric,coriander powder,Cumin Powder,Garam Masala)
4)Once the raw smell goes away, add Soya chunks and peas(Optional). Add salt and fry for 5 - 10 minutes
5)Add soaked rice with the ratio 1:2 water and keep it in rice cooker.

P for Palak Paneer




What more comforting than store bought paneer. After all its low calorie. Everyweek I make sure that we include lot of greens in our food atleast twice/thrice a week. I am talking about spinach which is rich in iron and Paneer for Protein.
Do you add toor dal in Palak Paneer, because I dont and the recipe is as below.

Main Ingredients:

Palak/Spinach - 1 bunch
Paneer - 10- 15 cubed- Fry it separately.

Fry and Grind:
Onion - 1 chopped roughly
Tomato- 1 chopped roughly
Ginger- garlic - 1 small piece

Tadka:
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Cumin Powder - 1 tsp
Chilli powder - 1 tsp
Garam Masala - a pinch
Jeera -1/2 tsp

Method:-

1) Boil Palak and grind , after it cools down.
2) Fry and Grind: Fry onion,Tomato ,Ginger -Garlic and grind it.
3)In a kadai with Oil, add Tadka and pour the onion-tomato gravy. Fry for 2 minutes till you see the oil on the top. By this time add Grinded Palak, salt and let it boil for 5 minutes.
4) Altast add fried Paneer cubes.



P.S: If you are health freak, you can boil paneer in water and add it at the last stage.

Palak Paneer is ready to be served with Phulka.
